Build a wall, knock out a bit of a wall.

Previous owners of the house removed most of a wall leaving an archway between the kitchen and a room. I would like this wall framed up. I can take care of gibbing. There is an unconsented beam above this archway but from my understanding this can be left as is? I would then like a doorway put in at the end of the hallway which would give access to the kitchen again. Changing the layout to this actually puts the house back in its original configuration.
