Kitchen Lounge Open Plan

I have a boomerang three bedroom home built 1970's. We want to knock out the kitchen and lounge walls to make open plan kitchen, hall and lounge to better utilise limited space. Plans are being drawn up now. May also combine bathroom and toilet if budget allows. Load bearing walls in lounge so will need beams installing I am told. I need all to be council compliant. Maybe a couple of decks too.
