We are wanting to replace our current concrete patio at the side of our house with a ground level deck. We are in an overland flow path area so the area can get heavy water at times, however the current concrete patio has never flooded as we have some drainage in place that pulls water into an old sump. We are wanting an expert with experience in ground level decks and drainage to come check out the area and provide a quote for the job, or let us know if this is not suitable for our garden. The house sits above the current concrete patio but not by much, less that 6 inches, so we would likely need to excavate down a bit. We will be removing the current concrete slab ourselves. The job would include installing drainage suitable for under the deck area that we can connect to a new sump pit, backfilling with gravel, weed matting, knowledge on using timber which will not rot with damp weather for the foreseeable future, and the actual deck build itself. We are looking for someone who is very knowledgeable about this kind of build and who can advise us of other options should a deck not be suitable. Attached is a very old photo just to show the rough area and height of the house compared to the current concrete. The area has a retaining wall on two sides as we back on to a park, and our neighbours house on the right hand side is higher than our house. The patio extends left in an L-shape to the left, towards the black fence in the photo following the house shape. Much easier to explain on site.
