Waterproofing Exposed Rafter Ends

The ends of the wooden rafters, under the eaves of the roof, are exposed to the elements. Want the ends of the rafters to be painted to protect them. Some might also need some kind of sleeve / cap to be fitted to prevent any water ingress into the roof. It is a 2 storey house, so the rafters are quite high up. If you are available to quote on site this Saturday , that would be great. Thanks.
