External roof connection

I am installing a ducted heat pump (separate contract). The house is two storey American style with very limited options to get from the ground floor to the 1st floor. A viable option is to establish an external connection from a point in the ground floor roof to the external eve of the 1st floor (there is a chimney there for the hot water cylinder that does this already). I am looking for a quote and an idea if this is doable? I am located in Palmerston North
