Deck hand rail

I have a small deck roughly 1.2mx 3.2m plus a run of 5 stairs that needs a handrail, ideally wood but I’m open to metal if it’s more cost effective. I also have a large deck 3.6mx6.5m area that has a trellis around it. This is nice and sturdy but the trellis is not built specifically for use on a deck so it needs to be bought up to spec so it can be signed off by the council.
