Remodel bathroom

Job description

General Building
Franklin

I have a bathroom that needs a lot of attention. The old bath needs to be removed and a clawfoot bath to be installed, floors and walls also need work to be discussed as I would like advice on what may be an attractive, affordable alternative to what I have now.

The bathroom does look very pretty. I purchased a clawfoot bath which came along with a brass shower curtain rail, a brass overhead shower, a brass waste pipe and miscellaneous other brass fittings. On the third attempt the shower curtain rail was finally installed the way I had originally asked for it to be installed so that is all good now. The brass wastepipe was not used for some reason. The fittings for the overhead shower however are a bit of a mystery. They comprise of brass, chrome, plastic and paper and looks odd to say the least. I did comment on this and was told that they did the best they could with the fittings I had provided. I asked why they hadn't gone out and got the correct fittings or even asked me to go out and get the correct fittings and got no answer that made any sense. I said I wasn't happy with the way it looked and I was told that they would 'paint it all gold and it would look just fine'. I said I would rather they just replaced it all with the correct fittings but apparently that wasn't an option. I have since had a local plumber pop in and check it out and he said it was an easy fix which is great news. I can live with it the way it is for now and get it sorted at a later stage. The bigger mystery are the wall coverings. Danny did suggest that I used tiles for the walls but I had my heart set on wallpaper. I have seen several lovely bathrooms that have been successfully wallpapered for use with a bath and overhead shower and that is what I wanted. The painting and papering was done in due course and looks really lovely. Exactly as I had imagined. I was planning on having my first bath in it that evening when it occured to me to ask Danny if he had waterproofed it all so I could splash around as much as I wanted. He said 'no he had not he had used exactly the materials I had provided'. I couldn't argue with that as I had indeed provided the wallpaper and border, it just hadn't occured to me that it was up to me to make sure that the bath with overhead shower and shower curtain could actually be used and not just admired. I hadn't either provided water proofing myself and nor had I asked Danny to waterproof anything. I asked if he could waterproof it and he said yes he could so I asked when he could do that for me. His answer? When I had paid my bill in full he would come back and give me a quote to waterproof. In the meantime I can use the basin to have a wash and, if I am very careful not to splash water, I can even take a bath. Maybe one day I will be wealthy enough to be able to afford waterproofing so I can use the shower as well. Apart from some strange fittings it really does look pretty though, I can't deny that.

"Thanks for the review but you the only customer I had with so many difficulties, don't know why but I think is your heavy medication you take, and cause you to see different colours after you order them and I bring them there, and is more other stuff you changed your mind and I have to do them 2-3 times with no extra charge couse I was thinking you are old women and have to help you but at the end you stab me with the knife behind my back....but anyway I hope note to have another customer like you in the future. Also builders and tradesman be careful with this women she's very difficult to work with. Im proud of my work and always I will be because I'm doing great job and I will keep doing, this is what I'm doing to keep my customer happy. You the one from all the jobs I have complaining about my work. I done the best I could and I think you should be happy for what I done in your house because no other builder not going to put up with you and your behaviour. Thanks again and God bless you."
