We have been visited by EQC assessor and are just now waiting for a structural engineer to look to see if the internal chimney needs to be re-built. We think it will be. This should be in the next 2 months. We can then either get Fletcher building to fix our house, or choose to manage it ourselves. We are exploring the second option as we feel Fletcher's may be too busy to get much done fast! House is about 170m2 single storey weatherboard house with iron roof We need- new double garage built to match weatherboard house, will need concrete pad putting down too small sleepout/ kids playroom re-built house re-roofed weatherboards resealing or re-painting as they have opened up down all the joins 1 external chimney taken down 1 external chimney re-built few windows re-jigged so they fit interior cracks in lathe and plaster walls and ceilings fixed (quite a lot!) Our preference is for a builder to do the whole lot and then just bill EQC. EQC have costed the work at $75k, which would be the most it could all cost. We would want it done as soon as structural engineer has been.

I would highly recommend Brian and his team. They worked hard and efficiently and cheerfully tackled any problems as they arose. Brian is very honest, open and professional and always returns phone calls promptly! He now has extensive experience working with EQC and the opt-out process.
