Job description

General Building
Christchurch

There is a gas fire installed in fireplace with a brick chimney. The chimney is 0.6m x 0.6m x 2.4m high. It sits on a concrete base. The fire/chimney has been framed and gibbed. The gib surround is 1.8m x 0.7m. There is a stone hearth in front of the gas fire. The flue goes through a concrete tile roof near the ridge line. I'd like a quote for two options. I'm arranging for the gas to be disconnected from the fire. 1) Removal of gas fire and stone hearth. Gas fire flue to be removed below roof level leaving bracing intact and repair hole in concrete tile roof. Patch the hole with gib leaving chimney behind gib surround. 2) Removal of gas fire, flue, chimney, hearth, gib surround and concrete pad. Repair defect in floor, ceiling, roof and gib/stop/paint to be flush with wall. Coving to be salvaged and reused in gap created. I don't think the work requires a consent but will require a LBP as it should be covered by: Exemption 31. Removal of a building element --- Timeframe: I'd like the job to be done in the next few months.

Hayden completed the work over a week as scheduled with the assistance of a painter for the last couple of days. The coving was salvaged and placed back in the gap. The join is seamless. The painting and overall finish is of a high standard. Photo 1 - Before Photo 2 - After (electrical work and carpet is incomplete as it was not part of the job) Photo 3 - Coving (old coving to right, salvaged coving to left)
