I have 5 cracked fire bricks in my open fire than need replacing. An engineer has checked the chimney and says it is fine it is just the fire bricks in the back of the open fire and mortar that needs fixing. House has Good flat access and you can park at the front door. These cracks appeared after the November earthquake, EQC assessor quoted $50 for the fix and $350 for the inspection once fixed, gota make you laugh. I realise the $50 is a joke but am keen to get it fixed as I can not light a fire and winter is coming. I have not agreed to EQC payout yet as I'm keen to understand what it will actually cost.
