Logburner-surround bricks

Lay bricks 1.3m long x 1.2m high in half bond along 2 corner walls of a living room , for a decorative feature behind a future logburner. The bricks are on site and ready to go, and need to be done asap. We want the bricks to be within 10mm of the gib - ie. no large standoff from the framing as in exterior cladding. The bricks are 'Euro modus' clay brick from Midland without a slurry coating, and will be painted later by the owner.
