Fix and lay bricks on the ground

We have some section on our backyard that need bricks to be placed on. The section was previously under a deck which I removed because its very old and not safe for kids. When I removed the deck I found that the ground was hollow and there are no bricks under. I want to make the backyard safe as possible for kids. I already have some old bricks but I am not sure if that’s enough. I can provide a picture of the yard if necessary.
