Brickwork repair above window

Block work above window is cracked and in need of repair/replacement. The building inspection conducted when I purchased the house suggested that the damage is likely due to a small crack in the brickwork leading to rust of the supporting steel lintel. The suggested remedy was to remove the damaged blockwork, treat the rust and reface the blockwork. Refer to photos.
