The ceiling in my kitchen has old rusting light fittings, but the electrician I called to replace them was reluctant to commit to anything until it was tested for asbestos. The house dates to the late eighties but because the ceiling in the kitchen is stippled, he thinks there's a good chance it contains asbestos.
