My wife and I purchased our first home a year ago and we are now expecting the first member to our family in November. In preparation for this, the layout of the house needs reconfiguring so that it is more suitable for a family. Currently our small bathroom is located in centre of the house and the third bedroom can only be accessed via a corridor running off the kitchen to the laundry. We are therefore seeking to move the current bathroom from the centre of the house and continue the existing hallway through to the back of the house so that all three bedrooms can be accessed by the main entrance hallway. We are then looking to put in a standard family bathroom into where our Laundry is currently and if possible put in a backdoor off this too. The laundry will be put in a cupboard area in the newly extended hallway. A member of our family who is an architect has drawn up a concept plan to assist us in explaining the design we would like to do, however he does not currently have the time to assist us in getting our plans progressed through Council. Being a newly expectant family it is important to stress that we are working to a tight budget and we therefore are also seeking more detailed advice as to what is achievable within our renovation budget.
