Topping bamboo #2
Job description
Reposted with a few changes - a team that's done a great job for us before with garden maintenance wanted to do the job (hence cancelling the original post) but we didn't realise that they've moved 3 hours (one way) away - we don't want for them, us or the planet to incur those miles. The work needed: We have tall bamboo that we'd like topped. On the vertical pic attached I've drawn an approximate finished height in yellow. The bamboo is a feature that we love and it performs a screening function (there's a 2-storey house behind). We'd like the trimming to leave a natural look, not sharp hedged. We understand a small boom will be needed for this? Access for one side/section is from our driveway, and from the neighbour's drive for the rest (already ok'd). Auckland Zoo can take delivery of one truckload of the bamboo tops (I have the delivery and contact details), the rest will be green waste for normal removal. Please note: Kauri are nearby and we've had them assessed - they are die-back free. We ask contractors to follow forest protocols (ie disinfecting vehicle wheels and undercarriage, tools and boots). Very happy with the result of 3 solid days of work by Urbano and his team, topping our very tall (50+ year old) bamboo. We wanted a load of the bamboo to go to the Zoo as browse and appreciate Urbano accommodating this in the job. It was also important to us that the bamboo was healthily topped but didn't look "hedged". We appreciate this being achieved with attention to varying heights. All in all, a job well done by a team that seems to genuinely enjoy working together. Thanks!
