Prune conifer tree

A large conifer (I'd guess 10m high, 10m diameter) is on the boundary of our driveway, overhanging a neighbour's property. It provides privacy but we are concerned of the risk of damage to our neighbour. We need advice:
How much risk does the tree pose?
What maintenance do we need to do to keep it as safe as possible? Does it need pruning now? It has had central branches removed in the past.
Do we need to consider removing it, and if so, what would be the impact on the driveway etc?
