Simpson EZIset 6.5kg washing machine fault

When the lid for the washing machine is up the electrical display all works fine. You can set it to whatever you want. As soon as you close the lid the display and every light starts flashing and beeping and there's a clicking sound and you can't do anything until you lift the lid and then it's all ok again.
