Fridge/Freezer repair

My Whirlpool Model WRI24SG will not switch on! Last week freezer temperature was too low and fridge temperature was too high. Last night I switched off at wall and defrosted. This morning I have switched back on and although fridge light comes on the fridge freezer is not cooling nor is there sound of fan/motor running? This is nearly 8 years old but in good condition and would appreciate advice or someone coming to look at to see if can be repaired or needs replacing. Thanks Simon
