Samsung Fridge working intermittently

We recently purchased a Samsung fridge second hand. We have noticed the fridge stops making noise after a few hours. Upon further investigation we realised the lights continue to work but the freeze and refrigeration functions will not. If we turn it off and on again it will begin to work, however this needs to be done regularly for the fridge to keep working.
