Disconnect small AC Unit - Exterior Part of Split System

Hi, we would like to have the external unit of a small split system airconditioning unit disconnected. The house is being moved to a different site so all you have to do is to disconnect the unit. Could be done on the way home from work. It would be great to get it done on Wednesday or Thursday. Please ensure you know how to do it so the gas is preserved.
