Range hood service/repair

Our range hood extractor in the kitchen above the stove hardly works anymore. steam rising hits the fan and about half goes around it into the room. It has started making a rattling noise when on. We need it to be fixed if possible. We have cleaned the grills but not taken the fan apart.
