Help with connecting Freeview to Aerial please!

Have moved into new property and can't get Freeview set up. Property has both TV aerial and sky dish on roof. We have a satellite Freeview box but the current internal aerial plug doesn't fit the box so may be connected to tv aerial rather than sky dish? Also atrial or dish may be disconnected outside while house was being painted as there is a hanging cable but not sure which aerial it is connected to.
