Mandy Wood Stained Glass
Joined January 2011
I have been making stained glass for 25 years and was the first stained glass artist in Queensland to be accredited by the governent to train apprentices who I used in my 5 galleries. Over the years I have made 1000's of stained glass commission windows and doors for the cyclone prone Queensland coast line.
I came back to NZ and bought a home and gallery in Dargaville in 2007.
I can ship stained glass anywhere and for repairs they are shipped by courier NZ wide.
Insurance quotes are given for repair work and I have been liaising with Insurance companies and assisting with claims forms for as long as Ive been in galleries.
My range of style goes from the ever popular traditional to modern and funky which I really enjoy.
I use the antique method of fine detailed painting on glass with crushed glass to get the features I desire whether portraits or family crests or biblical quotes, this is then fired in the kiln at approximately 1300 degrees to incorporate it in the surface of the glass.
I do work for homes, Churches and Businesses.
Repair Work: can be as small as a single crack in a china cabinet door fixed for $75 to a full church restoration.
Price: My aim is not to do the cheapest job but the best and most beautiful I can produce for your budget.
I am a stained glass designer so if you have an idea I can develop it for you or if you have no idea I can sit and design with you. I do not send out artwork under any circumstances.
Guarantee: my work is guaranteed, never to fade and the lead never to peel. And yes it will fit the measurements you supply me.
I also use a thick edge lead which means you [or your builder or glazier] can take off with a sharp knife approximately 4mm all the way around to allow for error or the opening being out of square.
I am happy to liaise with builders, handymen, glaziers as to how to install the stained glass or for an additional charge I can come and install it, but if you are not in a local area to save you money it is usually arranged by the owner with someone local like the builder or handyman or glazier.
I use my own secret recipe putty mix to ensure that it will last and be strong for years to come.
My aim is to have happy clients that will refer me to others, but really the beauty of my work speaks for itself.
I also supply glass cut to size in stained glass, Mirror, textured clear [white] glass.
