Waterproofing & tiling Deck

We have a tiled deck approx. 25sqm and also tiled staircase (approx. 15sqm) that need to be waterproofed and retiled. The tiles have cracked over the years hence i'd like to retile or timber the deck but have been told its best to get it re waterproofed to avoid any leaks (there are no leaks now - just a safety precaution). The stair case was only half waterproofed so needs to be waterproofed and then new tiles laid or timber. Thanks
