Repair work involving leaking banister and rotten timber framing

As per pictures, water is seeping through the banister cracks into the floor and making its ways down to the lower level bedroom. We cut through the jib to assess damage to the timber framing and it seems it requires replacing. We only noticed it after the first levin EQ as the wallpaper was peeling off. We have taped it temporarily but it needs urgent attention.
