Flashing repairs on chimney

We have a 2 story home in Lower Hutt with a chimney that is leaking into the 1st floor of the house. A tradie has looked at the exterior of the chimney & says the flashing need repair. The house is built in 1930. Are hoping to get this resolved quickly. I am currently in Auckland so unable to load any pictures right now but can arrange for someone to do this if you require. Suburb is Woburn. Many thanks
