New Drainlaying
Birkenhead, North Shore

Published: 29 July 2024

We need a professional to install a trench drain to prevent flooding in the downstairs area of a property. The flooding occurs due to water pooling at the bottom of a hill during heavy rains. We have dug a temporary trench, but we require a permanent solution with a professionally installed trench drain. Requirements: - Install an 8-meter (just under) trench drain to manage water flow and prevent flooding. - Ensure the trench drain is sloped appropriately to direct water away from the house and down the hill. - Navigate around existing concrete pilings that support the deck above. - No equipment has been purchased; the contractor should procure the necessary materials. Product for Installation: - Example product (similar to this, open to suggestion) Everhard 3m Easydrain Polymer Grate and Prejoined Channel available at --- --- Key Considerations: - The trench must effectively manage water flow, especially during heavy downpours. - The installation must take into account the existing concrete pilings and ensure the drain works around these structures. Assumptions for Quote (Please advise if deviates from the following): 1) Site Preparation: - Clear the area where the trench drain will be installed. - Excavate the trench to the required depth and width, ensuring a slight slope to facilitate water flow. 2) Base Preparation: - Lay a compacted gravel base to ensure stability. Install a geotextile fabric to prevent soil from clogging the drainage system. 3) Trench Drain Installation: - Position and connect the trench drain sections, ensuring they are level and properly aligned. - Secure the trench drain in place with concrete or other appropriate materials. 4) Backfilling and Finishing: - Backfill around the drain with gravel and soil, ensuring the slope directs water towards the drain. - Compact the soil to avoid future settling and ensure the drain remains effective. 5) Final Inspection: - Test the system with water to ensure proper flow and drainage. - Make any necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance. We look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks, John
