When the drainage pipe was installed in our back garden, it was not elevated high enough. The drain opening sits approximately 10cm below ground level. While this may have been acceptable in a larger yard, the space here is small and the drain is only a few centimetres from the concrete pavers and a wooden divider. As a result, the slope into the drain is very steep rather than gradual.
The landscapers covered this area with bark chips, but whenever it rains they slide down the slope and block the drain, causing flooding.
We are in the process of replacing the bark with grass. Before doing so in this section, we need the existing plastic drain pipe extended so the grate can be raised closer to ground level and allow for a more gradual slope.
