You will need to: Do some floor prep - grind off remaining old tile chips Use leveling compound - I know we are not going to get a perfectly level floor. 1985 house. Use tile and slate underlay - the floor is chip board on second floor of house. Add waterproofing - I have left 5cm or so at bottom of plasterboard unpainted so you can go slightly up the walls with the waterproofing.
