The pool must have a solid (perhaps slatted) fully automatic pool cover that can be opened or closed with one button press or key turn from inside the house.
The pool should be chlorine-based (not salt).
Solar heating will be available as there are two large hidden roof sections at an angle of 48 degrees pointing north-north-west available for this. An alternative form of heating should also be used -- we have an existing 7.5kW gas pool heater and heat exchanger reclaimed from a previous pool, or we could perhaps use ground source or a heat pump. The solar heating can be installed at a later date perhaps.
The pool should be basically rectangular but would preferably also have some element of a curved wall, shallow seating areas, or similar. Perhaps three of the sides should be straight. The design of this will obviously be determined by the requirements of the cover. It might be as simple as a large formal semicircular set of steps leading into one edge, or it might be a bit more wacky than that. Your ideas and/or examples would be very useful here.
