We have purchased a converted 1965 built concrete block church and are required by our lender to renovate our currently unconsented bathroom by --- . We are considering moving the back door (kitchen door that is built into the end wall of the church) to enable a small hallway to be incorporated into the bathroom area. We think we need an engineer to let us know what reinforcing would be involved to gain a better idea of the cost and whether it is viable. We need an engineer who is available as soon as possible. We want to build a cupboard from the bathroom side of the current doorway. The new doorway would be below the apex of the roof. Depending on cost, we would like input from the engineer on building a loft bedroom a above the kitchen (and the office next door) in a later renovation and would also like them to look at the reinforcements that would be needed if we replace two windows in the living room with a sliding door or similar. Please see photos re creating new doorway (and excuse my poor freehand highlighting).
