Removal of structural pole in carport\garage

We have a steel pole that is supporting a joint in a beam in our carport that we would like to remove. We need to know what is required to remove the pole and what we can put in to replace\support the existing beam. We also have some walls in the house that we want to remove in the future so need to know if these are structural or not.
