I'm looking for an engineer to assess a disused fireplace in my kitchen, with a view to remove a portion of it so I can fit a fridge in the gap. The chimney has been partially removed into the roof space but some parts still exist, there appears to be a concrete plug fitted at the top of the fireplace but i am unsure if it is structural or not.
