Advise on floor strengthening
Job description
Advise as to what will be required to provide adequate support to first floor joists if ground floor walls are removed or altered. There are several ways of creating the desired outcome in the new ground floor design, so as the new wall positions are not decided I need advice about the implications of one design compared to another in terms of support for the first floor. When the new wall arrangements are decided upon I will need detailed engineering specifications to ensure the new design will meet the relevant standards. The photo below is a view of the ground floor corridor either side of which are the walls that I would like to move or remove.

Joshue has gone well beyond the normal scope of his expertise to help me with this project. There was no particular incentive to do this for me since he is very busy with other work, the motivation was simply his desire to help with something that would otherwise have been very difficult for me and to save me a large sum of money while doing it. His engineering work was excellent so I don’t think I can have been any more fortunate in choosing Joshue.
