Timber front stairs and landing

Repair of corroded stair support beams OR replacement cost

Five years ago I paid an Auckland contractor over NZD 7,000 to build a wooden staircase to replace an existing metal structure. The stairs installed had wooden steps and railings but the underside upper step support beams were steel with welded ends attached which rest on and are bolted to, an intérim small deck leading to the smaller lower staircase to the ground. Wooden stairs

There are two possible options - firstly to do fix the existing stairs, that are detached from the wall at some places and then to replacevthe existing wood covering with the new one. Alternatively, the wood on the stairs can be replaced with tiling, as we already have tiles in the hallway. There's no urgency but would prefer to get it done by end of July.

Replace exterior cement steps with wooden ones

There are two sets of cement steps that we'd like to pull out and replace with wooden steps with footlights for safety.
