battery addition to existing solar

We have a 10 KVA grid-tied solar system and would like to add a significant battery to make maximum use of our generated power. We believe this can be achieved at a much lower cost than e.g. a Tesla battery by using other batteries and controllers, but need expert advice. The budget is for the advice only. Cheers
