Awning Intallation

Job description

Shade Sails
Tauranga

We need a 4m x 2m awning installed (it only had a shade sail category). The house is cedar and block but not sure if the cedar has block under it. The awning is from Trade Tested. Here is the link: --- . It is very heavy. The instruction manual says it can only be installed on concrete block so we contacted Trade Tested and this is what they said: We do advise on the website that these are designed for solid brick/masonry (we didn't see this), and can be used on weatherboard or timber as long as it is secured to a stud or roof joist with coach screws ( not provided with the item). However, it is at the discretion of your builder to be comfortable with this type of installation. I believe the manual advises only concrete or un-rendered brickwork because the unit does not come with the correct fittings for installation on timber. As long as the correct screws are sourced, it is definitely possible to attach to timber or weatherboard. That's as transparent as possible. There are plenty of reviews and images of people who have put this up on all sorts of buildings. Please only get in touch if you believe you are confident it can be done to a good standard.
