Pushing through wall

We are putting in a new kitchen and wanting to know if we can utilise space behind an existing internal wall, currently housing wiring for surround sound/TV system - the house was built 2006 so technology is outdated. We were wanting to see if this space can be put to better use and what the cost would be. Many thanks Heather Powell
