Shower installation or repair

I would like to either repair or replace the shower at my tenants. The wallboards are damp and have started rotting at the bottom. I think the shower is the original shower installed in about 1972. It currently has a plastic sliding door and a rusting shower curtain rail. If the cost to repair the shower is going to be similar to replacing it, then I am open to doing that. See attached photos.
