Job description

Kitchen Renovation Howick, Manukau

Published on 8th December 2025

I am living overseas and will be in New Zealand for the month of February, to early March 2026. I own a rental in Dannemora and want to refresh the kitchen in preparation of selling it. The job will include: • Fix smaller issue with the cabinet carcass, minor water damage • Slightly extend the carcass in one place by adding a small section/one door (see photo). It will mean the closest part of the “U-shape” will come approximately the width of a cabinet door (to be added) onto where there is currently carpet (the floor will be completely redone) • Repaint the whole kitchen, especially the cabinet doors and replace/match all handles • Replace the countertop with engineered stone/quartz. We can use a supplier to cut and install the top. The contractor’s job will be to remove existing Formica top, level/strengthen cabinetry if required, liaise with stone supplier on measuring and timing sink/tap once the stone is in place, and review fittings, e.g. taps etc, to decide if they need replacing and then install/reinstall it. The house will be empty by mid-January, but I would like to start around 26 January 2026, when I am there. I am aware it is difficult to provide a final quote without viewing the kitchen. As you can see from the photo, it is not very big and not complicated. If you give me a good estimate, we can finalise the cost when we start. I am reasonable and will pay you reasonable fees. I am early in my 70’s but I am still very capable and will assist you all the time.
