Kitchen cabinet reinforcement

We are getting a new bench top and need two reinforcements done. A steel rod and a piece of wood as shown in picture. This is a small job but needs doing within the next two weeks. I also have two other jobs. One is to fix a sagging ceiling - see pic. The other is a bigger job to replace our auto garage doors with French doors. But the kitchen one needs doing first.
