I have an old lyttelton house. The kitchen floor slopes badly. I think that the bottom plate along the end wall has rotted away. None of the walls or ceiling are straight. I'd like to gib the entire lounge kitchen area, but want to make sure that the piles are reasonable first. It may be that the kitchen floor will have to come up to get at the end wall. I don't really know. I am not looking for a full rebuild, or to turn it into a new house. I would like a builder I can work alongside who is experienced working on old houses to help me get it to the point where gibbing and painting isn't pointless.
