We have an interior decorative brick wall that separates the living room and kitchen that we are interested in removing / modifying. It's only 2m high and doesn't meet the ceiling. There is also a wall in the living room that connects with the ceiling that we think may enclose a post that connects with the main beam in the ceiling. Would appreciate assessment/advice from qualified builder/engineer/architect as to whether a consent is required for work on the brick wall, as well as advice as to what work would be required. Also would need assessment of whether the second wall is structural, and potential alternatives.
