Need someone good at in-wall toilets!

Our in-wall toilet (about 9 years old) mechanism can't be adjusted properly anymore (at least by me!). It runs for a little bit on and off all day long, and yet the mechanism is getting stuck (inside the wall) if I make the stems longer. The stems pop back behind the plastic wall. Hard to explain. It needs a good adjustment or possibly replacement I think.
