Exterior Roughcast crack repair

We have some hairline cracks in our Roughcast exterior that need repair - one large one on a diagonal that will need to be reworked. At the same time, we would like to add a few expansion joints (similar to the one shown) to reduce stresses and prevent more cracking. Crack is about 1.5m long, and we're thinking 3-4 expansion joints , each one about 1m long (below corners of window frames). We have colour-matched paint available.
