Ceiling plaster

So, I need some help saving my DIY attempt to plaster a hole in my hall ceiling. It's not big and hopefully just needs a sand and a skim. As you can see the dark paint did not hide the uneven surface and the ceiling rose doesn't quite cover it. This week would be great as would like to get the ceiling rose and lighting intstalled this weekend .
