Repair small hole in interior wall and paint

My son (bless him), accidentally put his knee through the wall, and now there is a small hole. The hole needs to be repaired and then the wall repainted. The hole is quite small (see photo), and (assuming the whole wall needs to be repainted), it's approximately 5-6 square metres. We have left over paint, but don't have any materials to repair the hole.
