Over-lining lounge wall

Lounge and dining wall areas are constructed of concrete block wall with plaster rendering over. The plaster render has been damaged in a few locations by effervescent action of the blocks. We think a viable option to resolve the damage would be to have thin (~10mm) battens attached to the walls and then plasterboard over plus stopping and painting. Skirting boards and other finishing will also be required. There is about 25 lm of wall to cover, total of around 55 sq mtrs . A small section is two levels high.
