Window Seat repair

I have a window seat with some damage to the gib board, that appears to be from an ant infestation. Originally thought it was water. Need to peel back the gib board to observe the extent of the damage, and then to repair. The window seat has a window that goes right and left of the corner, and does not have a pillar in the middle. There is some movement in the sill that looks like water damage, and this may be affecting the plasterboard below it. Hard to say. Can't see any evidence of this from underneath.
